I got a little inspiration from Deanne over at Hoop Lovers from her latest video of practicing a bit of sustained spinning. The only thing is – I was having “a day”. You know. One of THOSE days. Unbrushed hair. Undressed.
Remember when we used to spin in circles until we fell down? I grabbed a mini hoop, put on a skirt (rather than my pajamas pants) & …tried.
I’m posting this because it’s not beautiful, it’s not particularly graceful, & it’s not ‘skillful’.
I’m posting this because it IS an exercise in me trying to break out of a depressive cycle. To move my body however I want within my little hoop. & that’s a triumph in itself. Spin. Breathe. Repeat.
(Bonus points to anyone who can spot when I start to get really dizzy…)
Displaying yourself “unfinished” is very brave. I think you look, think, and move beautiful, no matter what.
Also, mini hoops? So cute!
Thank you, Amanda. :]
I was a bit anti-mini hoops, but they’re growing on me…
I’m guessing you get dizzy at 1:11
This is inspiring!! It reminds of my Anne Lamott giving permission to write “s!tty first drafts.” The point is – just do it and it gets you moving towards your goal!
I hope you are feeling happiner now – I know I am. 🙂
You are sooo right.
What amazing synchronicity! I just checked out a book of Anne Lamott’s over the weekend that I had put on hold AGES ago. Now I *definitely* look forward to reading it…
I like this a lot! Feeling honored that I was able to offer some inspiration and enjoy the fact that we individually offered our rawness to the world. Feeling I want to do more videos just capturing movement and first attempts. Join me, it is a good feeling!
p.s. You blog rocks and I am about to spend a crazy amount of time digging through it! 😉
Thank Deanne! It was a little nerve-wracking but I know the more I put myself ‘out there’ – the better the process will feel to me. I will definitely try to join you on more movement videos – I found it a really encapsulating experience. :]
thank you for this beautiful message that being RAW is being beautiful. And that you are!
Aw, thanks J.!
How did I miss this??
I love this Al.
